Biography

 

JinMan Jo’s work has been shown widely throughout the United States and in Korea.  Solo exhibitions of his work have been presented at the MacRostie Art Center in Grand Rapids, MN; the Wee Gallery of Fine Art in Scottsdale, AZ; Cecelia Coker Bell Gallery, Coker College in Hartsville, SC; Riverfront Arts Center and Scarabocchio Art Museum in Stevens Point, WI; Rountree Art Gallery in Salem, OR; Art Access Gallery in Salt Lake City, UT; Gage Family Art Gallery, Augsburg College in Minneapolis, MN; Harry Krug Gallery, Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, KS; and Blue Wave Gallery in Los Angeles, CA.  Korea solo exhibitions have been presented at the Chosun Gallery in Seoul, the Gail Art Museum in GaPyon, and in the Seosan Art Center in Seosan.  His upcoming 2017 shows include the Phipps Center for the Arts in Hudson, WI and the WKU Main Gallery at Western Kentucky University, Bowling Green, KY.

 

Jo’s group exhibitions include Sculpture Now, Oregon artist Series at the Conference Center plaza in Salem, Oregon, 6th Beautiful Environmental Exhibitions at the Chosun Gallery in Seoul, Korea and EXPO 27, a juried group show at the b.j. spoke gallery in Huntington, NY. 

 

His collections are included at the Gail Art Museum in GaPyon, Seosan Art Center, Seosan, National Museum of Contemporary Art, Seoul, Korea, the Summit Street Gallery in Iowa City, IA, and the Utah State University College of Business in Logan, UT. 

 

As a visiting artist, he has lectured at Konkuk University, SungShin Women’s University, Namseoul University, Hongik Universuty, KyungHee University, University of Seoul in Seoul, Korea, Augsburg College, Minneapolis, MN, Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, KS, Boston University, Boston, MA, Coker College, Hartsville, SC, Western Kentucky University, Bowling Green, KY, and most recently at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN. In 2016, he served as the juror for the 24th Annual Juried Exhibition at the MacRostie Art Center in Grand Rapids, MN.

 

He has been twice honored with the Outstanding Achievement Award in contemporary Sculpture given by the International Sculpture Center.  He worked as Assistant Professor of Sculpture at Utah State University, Logan, Utah and Western Oregon University, Monmouth, Oregon.  He currently works at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
